Lt. Bruce Stayner
Bruce Stayner graduated from Buckeye Valley High School in 1982. In that same year he completed his 36 hour firefighting course. Following in his father’s footsteps he became a member of the Radnor Township Fire Department. His father was one of the founding members of the Radnor Fire Department. After serving on the Radnor Township Fire Department for 4 years, he moved to Ostrander. He then became a member of the Scioto Township Fire Department in 1986. He received his E.M.T.-B certification in 1988. Bruce obtained the rank of Lieutenant in 1990.
Currently both of his sons are pursuing a career in firefighting. Kevin is enrolled at Hocking College in the Fire Science Program and Matthew is enrolled at Columbus State Community College in the Fire Science Program. Matt became a member the summer of 2007 after attaining his professional Fire Fighter (II) level.
Bruce was named Firefighter of the Year in 1993. He is also responsible for designing the Scioto Township Fire Department’s logo and patch. He designed this in 2003 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Fire Department.
