Fire Personnel
The Scioto Township Fire Department would like to introduce three new firefighters. Ms. Katey Butts, Mr. Kyle Williams, and Mr. Kyle McIntire. The three new firefighters are a welcome addition to our experienced staff.
The Scioto Township Fire Department consists of many firefighters with many different training backgrounds. Since the Department is a "volunteer" department all personnel must pass the State of Ohio mandated 36 hour training course. There are around 30 firefighters at any given time on the department roster. Many of the personnel's backgrounds go way beyond the state minimum requirements. The department currently has on staff the following:
EMT Basics: 6
Paramedics: 2
Registered Nurse: 1
FireFighter Level I: 15
FireFighter Level IA: 5
FireFighter Level II (Full-Time): 5
While the above shows a breakdown of state "labeled" levels, the department is constantly training with new equipment, concepts, and technology. The station has department-wide training at least two days per month, and many months there are several more days. The training comes from the Department officers as well as outside training from members of other departments who specialize in certain training aspects, or from colleges and the state fire academy.
